I especially like the harmonisation in this song as not only did this challenge me but it ended up sounding decent. Writing the lyrics and the vocal melody was the biggest issue I had but I’m glad with how it turned out. I learned that I tend to spend too much time overthinking the vocal melody. I could improve by just adding random melodies and adding on to them.
The mood of this song gives off a darker, more despondent feeling.
The process for composing this song, was very different from what I was used to, mainly because it includes vocals. The first step was to come up with a basic melody for the instruments and the singers that would attract the listener. Then came the rest of the accompaniments. I wanted the accompaniment to be mostly chordal.
After this was the process of writing the lyrics. We had a planning session and wrote this.
After that was the recording process. Khardeeja had to do this by herself with the accompaniments but it sounded great so we went with her recording straight away. For Elizabeth, because she was a sudden addition to the team, I guided her through some parts of the song but she instantly understood and recorded her part.
This was where I had to spend time editing. I found it difficult to filter out the background noises that some of the recordings had. I spent a few hours trying to figure this out and once I did, it sounded better. The noise is still there, however, the instruments are able to play over the noise and the singers are still loud and clear.
Lastly, everything was put together and final adjustments were made to all the instruments and the recordings to make sure they fit in as one song.

The photo I chose for this song is a photo taken in the dark. I chose this to symbolise the darker thoughts of the character in this song. The character mainly has the thoughts that they are alone and nobody is there to help them, hence the single light in the darkness.
