about

Sangwan writes:
This piece is more major and upbeat than Misery, which is the entire purpose of why this piece sounds like the entire opposite of Misery. My plan was to write a second piece as a continuation of the first piece where the protagonist is more positive about themselves. I’m very pleased with the melody as I do think this is one of the nicest melodies I have ever written.
I learned more about the style of piece or song that I enjoy writing and if I feel like I understand the process of writing songs better, hopefully write more songs during my free time in the future.
The process was more simple than Misery. For this piece, the first step was to come up with a melody that an instrument would play. This took me a while but eventually I wrote the melody I wanted to use.
Then came the accompaniment. This was difficult for me as I needed harmonisation in this piece and the texture should not be too thick but not too thin either. This was probably the biggest struggle for me as I find writing parts for harmonisation very difficult but after some time to process the steps, it was ready.
Lastly, I made some edits to the score of this piece so it was not too messy and it was done.

The photo I chose for this piece is a photo of a bird. I mainly chose this to symbolise the freedom the character has in this piece as they live a brighter, happier life.
