Brandon writes:
I first went through different jazz pieces and tried to understand the characteristics of Jazz. I then do what I usually do, which is input random notes until it works. I then seek help from friends while reviewing different jazz music to see what else I can implement into my own music. I struggled the most with trying not to cross the border between jazz and blues.
I’m the most pleased about the β€œimprovisation” part as it did not end up sounding messy and too random.
I learned that creating jazz is a very difficult task for me and that it was quite difficult to not mix up jazz with blues.
